Today I worked on creating the flat mounting plate for the 1938 Chevy Coup headlamp bucket. Using the piece of Delrin plastic that I cut out for this portion of the project worked well for me to shape and contour the new panel.
In this video I am tack welding the shaped panel to the bucket and then full welding to complete. I will end by using a hammer and dollie to finish planishing the weld making it flush and level.
Today I am removing a rusted section from one of the 1938 Chevy headlamp buckets that has the least amount of rust damage. I will be welding in the new portion of the repair panel keeping the shape to the original. Albert, my neighbor is lending a helping hand.
